New Video: Wish You Well (Live)

Curious song. There's a lot in it, but it's just not quite...complete yet. I didn't feel the door slam shut on it. It's a work in progress. Time to get back to work on it. But until then... enjoy.

"Wish You Well," filmed live at the Zipper Theater, NYC, 12/16/08 Credits: James Manzi, the Zipper Theater.

Mike in Williamsburg, NYC This Saturday 3/21

This should be fun. John DeVore is awesome, and a friend. I'll be playing a couple songs and talking with him. It's a lil' Moth, lil' Moonwork, lil' Happy Ending... You come. You like.

The Brick Theater, Inc. presents

"BROKE"

This month, professional gabber and "notorious roué" John DeVore interviews an eclectic cast of New Yorkers with a story to share, and a desire to connect with a group of people who've been there, are there, or will be very soon. Completely unique in concept and execution, "Broke with John DeVore" is a live, interactive theater performance that celebrates that most inexpensive of social activities: human interaction. Just a couple microphones, some hobo juice, an affable host… and you.

This month's special guest: musician Mike Errico

A UNIQUE, MONTHLY STORYTELLING & PERFORMANCE EVENT CELEBRATING THE END OF WEALTH WHERE YOU ARE THE INVITED GUEST

THIS MONTH'S STORY: BREAKING EVEN.

New York City loves a hard luck case who's willing to hustle. How are you making ends meet? Second job? Ducking the landlord? Hocking your iPod? Eating Ramen noodles? Are you reinventing? Reincarnating? What's your personal comeback kid story?

The 25 Most Epic Opening Rock Tracks

Here's something goofy I wrote for Sound and Vision magazine. If you know me, you can probably guess most of them. And you know #1 without looking....

The 25 Most Epic Opening Rock Tracks

Sure, you can make a ballad with a sexy sax solo the first thing people hear on your new record…but why? Here are 25 bands that know how to make a first impression–with thunderous guitar riffs, plane crashes and cathedral bells that signal sonic apocalypse.

Two Takes on Creativity, One On Suicide

[Latest post on The Velvet Rope]

I bet you get a lot of email forwards about “finding your inner [whatever].” Perhaps your mom sends them, like Trojan horses for comments about how she’ll die never having held a grandchild. That you’re ripping simple joys from the woman who bore you. And do you know how much it hurt? Like a bitch. That’s how much.
